GORE. GORE. GORE!
Last night on AEW Dynamite, the legendary Rhino made his first appearance for All Elite Wrestling, as the show was in his native Detroit. While the Man-Beast may be best known for his work in TNA and the original ECW, he’s operating his own promotion in Insane Wrestling Revolution, and regularly makes plenty of appearances on independent promotions.
While his shiny new music, put together by AEW’s resident composer Mikey Rukus, feels very nu indeed, it bears a reminder that Rhino’s previous music, particularly during his time in the original ECW, has plenty of nu metal cred. For one, he used Dope’s “Debonaire,” the leadoff track from their Felons and Revolutionaries album, as seen at the tail end of this clip from April 2000:
And while finding footage that isn’t ripped from Peacock or Netflix is nigh impossible these days, wrestling’s own Wikipedia that is Cagematch reports that Rhino used “Body Count’s In The House” during his OG ECW days as well. Obscurer still is footage of him using Five Finger Death Punch’s cover of Pantera’s “A New Level” on the independents, but the less said about that band, the better.
