Just in case you imagined May would bring only nauseating floral tenderness this year, Chat Pile have come to wreck and rescue the month with eight performances in Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. From May 9 in Memphis to May 18 in Birmingham, OKC's four horsemen of apoplexy will cross the Southeast alongside Texan black metal buds Portrayal of Guilt and Kansas City's Nightosphere. Tickets are on sale now.
After dirtying the South a bit, Chat Pile head to the UK in June and then join Fleshwater, Full of Hell, and Harm's Way on LA's Sound and Fury Festival in July. Later this year the band intends to release their second album, the follow-up to 2022's God's Country, on the Flenser.
Chat Pile and Portrayal of Guilt memorably released a split EP in 2021, featuring vocal trade-offs by frontmen Raygun Busch and Matt King on the tracks "Brutal Truth" and "Touched by an Angel." There's no word yet whether the bands plan to manifest those cameos live, but given Chat Pile's reputation for taking mid-set requests, it could be as simple as asking for it.
