While Disturbed have largely moved away from their nu metal roots, their catalog has stood the test of time, as evidenced by their ongoing 25th anniversary tour for their seminal album The Sickness. Commercially, the Chicago quartet is one of the most successful bands of the later nu metal years, and to add to the CV, they now have several more RIAA certifications to their credit.
For those unaware, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifies a release as Gold when it reaches half a million units sold and Platinum for one million, and subsequent million sale milestones earn a release another Platinum certification. For streaming, 1,500 streams is considered equivalent to an album sale. The trade group’s most recent round of certifications dropped last week, and Disturbed has over a dozen more to add to their extensive legacy.
First off are the album certifications, which see their 2005 release Ten Thousand Fists and 2008’s Indestructible achieve triple Platinum status. Their 2010 LP Asylum is now certified Gold, and their 2015 comeback record Immortalized has lived up to its name with a double Platinum certification.
Eight of the band’s singles, including “Prayer” and “Another Way to Die” have now been certified Gold, with four additional singles reaching Platinum status, including their cover of Genesis’ “Land of Confusion.” “Indestructible” and “Inside the Fire” are now double Platinum, “Stricken” is triple Platinum, and their mainstream smash cover of “The Sound of Silence” has a staggering nonuple Platinum certification. Should the latter break ten million units sold, it will achieve the rare Diamond certification.
As for The Sickness, the album itself is now octuple Platinum, with three singles earning certifications. "Stupify" is now double Platinum, with "Voices" and "The Game" achieving Gold status.
