Following the announcement of their upcoming North American tour dates, second-generation nu metal upstarts Vended have revealed the release date for their self-titled debut album, set for September 20.
The quintet, which includes Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan, sons of Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan respectively, described the record in an interview with Metal Hammer as having “live energy” and “highly fucking raw and passionate”, with little in the way of post-processing, relying instead on the strength of the vocals and instruments alone. “We’re young, hungry, and we want to punch people in the balls," Says Taylor, describing the band's energy. "It’s pretty much, ‘Listen, motherfucker, you may think you know us, but we’re gonna drag you into our world and show you what the fuck is up.’”
Whether they like it or not, with such large shoes to fill, taking a back-to-basics approach might be a smart move as they continue to distance both themselves and their sound from that of their forebears. With song titles like "Nihilism" and "Pitiful", however, the apple might not have fallen that far from the tree after all. We’ll have to wait until September to find out.
Vended will be hitting the road for a Fall tour with Wristmeetrazor and Lie right after the record drops. You can grab tickets here. In the meantime, check out the upcoming album's tracklist below:
