The wait is finally over: Deftones are headlining their first Australia/New Zealand tour since 2016. And they're bringing Interpol with them. The tour is in support of their Grammy-nominated hit album, private music. This is Deftones first time playing in Australia since Good Things Festival in 2022 and their first headlining tour Down Under since Barack Obama was in office.
Despite the seemingly odd pairing, Deftones, and frontman Chino Moreno in particular, have long been fans of the New York post-punk revivalists. Moreno has praised Interpol's classic debut Turn On The Bright Lights, saying, "Every great band has that one time in their career where everything lines up and everything's firing on all pistons," adding, "There's not a bad song on that record."
Joining Deftones and Interpol will be rising Australian rocker Ecca Vandal, fresh off Limp Bizkit's Loserville Tour and a spot at Dia De Los Deftones. Fans can sign up for first access to pre-sale starting Tuesday November 18th at 1pm local time. General sale starts Friday November 21st at 2pm local time.
Starting in January, Deftones will tour Europe and the UK with special guests Denzel Curry and Drug Church. In August they'll head back to London to headline Outbreak Fest. In October they'll be performing at the Texas stop of the newly revived Sick New World.
